Darn, I wish this idea (Turn the differential around. Or you could move your hitch to your front bumper and push the mixer.   : P) had been mine, I would have been able to add it to the new book I'm writing 1001 Ways to Go Awry With Papercrete (and not even know it). 
I will try a couple of your easy suggestions when I can.
