Welcome to the group Mack. We have a wide range of people here, from those who are making papercrete to those who just like to read about it. You will often get advice from both ends of the spectrum.
It has been too hot here to do much outside for several weeks, with a record number of days over 100f. I don't suppose you have that problem in BC : )
I'll be back to papercrete as soon as the weather breaks, and that might be about now since our annual monsoon season seems to be starting, though with much less rainfall than normal so far this year. A few days ago I went outside to enjoy a thunderstorm and watched it split and go around me, leaving me high and dry. Oh well, I've had almost 1/2" so far this year.
If you are planning on using papercrete where there is a large amount of rainfall, you definitely should go for a good seal and isolate the papercrete from water sources. The old adage of a big hat and sturdy boots for the house is good advice - good foundation and stem wall plus overhang on the roof.
