Ernie,
Ventilation is a concern with any livestock in an enclosed area. My
targets are for 2 air changes per hour in the winter and up to 60 air
changes per hour in the summer with spring and fall somewhere in
between. I have ag exhaust fans, as well as large ag floor fans to
achieve this.
Moisture/drainage may be a problem in the spring and fall, my water
table is just a foot or two below grade, making for an interesting
chanllenge. I have pondered geothermal options for cooling, but the
seasonal high water table makes that difficult. So I have been
thinking of running a culvert above ground and covering it with a
couple feet of earth as an air intake in hopes that this would cool
the incoming air. Hey, it worked for the ancient Romans!
Keith.
