Oh yes, I definitely plan on camping if I make it. Carpool/rideshare is a great idea as long as schedules can be coordinated. For me, I'll probably leave after work Thursday night and arrive in the wee hours Friday. Assuming my work schedule this fall is the same as usual, of course.
I'm not aware of any papercreters anywhere close to El Paso, though. Sure, Columbus is "just down the road" a couple of hundred miles, in the wrong direction.
On a side note, I went yesterday afternoon and found the culprit that cost me a grand and Shadow a lot of pain, it was indeed concertina that the military carelessly left on the side of a public road.

Dang Dude, Sorry to hear about Shadow getting cut up. That stinks. Good to hear he's on the mend. I know you are a camping/hiking enthusiast, and camping at Judith's place appears to be free. (Isn't that correct Judith?) I'm betting that there will be more than a few people wanting to travel from your general area. I bet some kind of carpool can be worked out. I encourage you and whoever else is considering attending (from any location) to get in touch with Ev evelynanne8@gmail.com Let her know that you're interested in sharing a ride and I be she will do what she can to get the proper people in touch with each other to work out the details. While we were running in the desert my dog Shadow ran into something, probably barbed wire or concertina from the nearby military installation. Blood was pouring out of his leg through a 2"x1" hole, and I couldn't stop it, so we headed for the emergency room. Turns out he severed an artery and damaged some tendons, had multiple lacerations, and a jagged forked gash on his shoulder. He was in surgery until 2am and we got to come home this morning. He's in a morphine snooze right now. Prognosis is good, but the episode did unmentionable things to the bank account and it's not over yet. He does not have medical coverage : ( I still plan to make it, just have to figure out the finances and timing with work. Luckily it is a while, so lots of time to establish Plan B. Shadow should be well on his way to recovery by late September.
