There's several milk-paint recipes online, but I haven't tried it; searching 'exterior milk paint' will provide information. A link that offers paint on an eco-friendly basis, including milk-paints, is http://www.ecobusinesslinks.com/natural_paint_manufacturers.htm.

You can mix your own paints if you have time or purchase them premixed. Hope this helps! - elaine

Dear Friends,

What are natural options for exterior paint that will protect the wood siding?

We have a rental house here in rural northern California which hasn't been painted in about 10 years because our renter is extremely sensitive to chemicals.  The exterior is plywood with old oil-based stain on it, but it's very weathered now and the wood is parched and starting to deteriorate some places.  I really feel we need to paint it this year.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Robert in Mendocino
