What about cloaking our tools?
If thieves cannot find the tools or other valuables, they'll be a lot more difficult to steal.
Get creative. Build a hidden location to store valuable tools and equipment.
This basic concept has been utilized to make home safes and secret compartments for years.

Out in the middle of the desert, what about building a buried root cellar with a hidden hatch? Perhaps that hatch could be made to appear like indigenous rock?
We already have several Papercreters who have made faux rocks out of papercrete.
