Ten years ago we built a chopper powered by five horsepower 210 volt motor pulley / belt driven
To a two foot long shaft with five ten inch table saw blades turning at 800 rpm. Chopped paper great yet would not through heavies, Portland sand and earth/adobe . Later we built another mixer with lawn mower blade and less rpm. Threw heavies still it would not pulp paper.
Fortunately we learned that sand did not lessen insulation value at 50% paper loading so we now are able to make a grinding paste of the sand cement and water, which completely grinds the paper to a pulp. Simply acquire a large roll type concrete mixer (12 cu. ft. ) presoak paper if you want a quick mix averaging 45 minutes. It is as simple as that. As you say don't reinvent the wheel. By the way I have made over one thousand loads and 30,000 bricks. Please benefit from my tests, I did them to help advance the art. So, as soon as you are willing to bring sand, or other aggregate, in to the mix, your troubles are over. Roll type concrete mixers are easy to find used. Clyde T. Curry
