[papercreters] Woodgas

Calle,
Do you have wood where you are building?  If you are off the grid and want to keep costs down you can make your own power in a number of ways.  Without buying a solar cabin kit (which even these are down to about $4800.00 now) you could build a gas generator and run a regular light plant sized to your needs.  This is supposing there is a source of wood near you that is cheap or your own for free.   The gas generators are made specific to your species and size of fuel but they cost less than $1000 to make, depending on your scrounging ability.
There is a group that is larger than this one and much more prolific with postings (some of these guys use it like twitter).  A couple in the group have generators in their truck beds and use wood to drive around like normal with a big smile on their faces as they go by gas stations.  Course when they run out of wood in the hopper they need to pullover to the side of the road and stuff grass in till it generates more gas.
