Re: [papercreters] Re:Papercrete in the UK. > being a science dweeb?

Charmaine,
In have to admit we can cary some threads here that seem unconventional, but then again PC is a unconventional material. I do see in the future, those of us here now seemin out of touch, but hopefully that will be some time. And when it happens, it means those of us who contributed in small and large ways paved the way for the future succes of this material. And it may wind up being used for something we cannot envision now. And who knows, some of the of the wall ideas we kick around now may be accepted wisdom in the future. Ideas are powerful. Persued ideas are unstopable..

Wow- a sister at heart! I too have test blocks, plaster buckets,
samples and sample boards, etc all over. I was too busy trying to run
my business to actually finish much ( OK I DID finish few projects at
least)..

I KNOW I am a dilettante--and seriously not normal! but I had so
much fun playing, that I now know NOT to start a big project since I
will not finish it. I consider myself a " scientist" who is
experimenting to help others further their causes. There is a place
for all us non-conformists...but we all seem to have NORMAL neighbors (
or family members) who wonder what is wrong with us! hahaha

this group seems to have fun while learning and sharing...other groups
are becoming more "PC" ( not portland cement) each day.. any comments
that don't fit the true"eco lipservice" are soundly shot down... you
can't even say "Wait- there is a place for all materials" before being
told we HAVE to use only alt stuff or we are killing the
planet....please.

I hope this group can maintain that sense of pioneer, experimental
spirit!

confess, but they were
a lot of fun while my energy was up. I sort of think that nothing is
really wasted even with ideas, so even if I have had to abandon
something it is only because I learned a better way in the process
and started again.
I am beginning to refer to other people as "normal people" because
my ideas and lifestyle are definitely not normal. But who wants
normal anyway? Normal is what people do when they can't be bothered
to consider how much negative impact they are having on others'
lives and environments, instead of planning the positive impact they
COULD have. This is how come I got interested in papercrete in the
first place, and cob.
