[papercreters] garden -was- Re: gypsum

I think it is being done in some areas in California. I don't think
everyone is happy about it either.

I think the idea is that the calcium sulfate in the gypsum can act as a
nutrient for plants that like lime.

The big problem I see is that you don't always know what is in the
drywall scraps you get. There may be other additives. Some drywall
has borax as a mold inhibitor. You put borax on your garden and you
won't get much to grow well for a while. There may be some other trace
chemicals in the manufacturing process that wouldn't be good to have in
your vegetables either.
