[papercreters] Re: Gabions+Papercrete

I've seen a couple of comments hinting about how low skill or easy
process installing gabions and rubble trenches are.

I'm not disputing that they can be installed by reasonably
knowledgeable unskilled labor, but don't start thinking that it will
be EASY!

All foundation work, regardless of the type is HARD WORK. Even if
you have a front-end loader doing the bulk of the work (highly
recommended) there is always plenty of shovel, wheelbarrow, and
bucket work. It's part of the territory. Sadly, there no practical
way to completely get away from those days of sweat and muscle aches.

I do, however, have a very practical, but admitedly SEXIST solution.

Hire a bunch of young energetic lads from the local High School
Football team for a weekend.

Ok... now you need to get these young lads properly motivated... If
you don't, they'll spend the day goofing around. Boys being what
they are.

Have a young, but very nice looking WOMAN act as Supervisor!!!

hehehehe...

I've seen this technique produce FANTASTIC results at a Habitat
project. It was hilarious to watch. Our very smart supervisor made
a few simple comments teasing a couple of them about who was stronger
or could work faster. OH MANNNNNN! TALK ABOUT A FRENZY!! Those
poor saps were huffin', puffin', and sweatin', like you wouldn't
believe. They moved mountains of rock, sand, and soil in lightning
speed. Yeah, a few of them had to take of their shirts and try to
show off, but they got the work done trying to show each other up and
impress the lady Supervisor. I WAS LAUGHING MY REAR END OFF THE
WHOLE TIME.
