Greetings,
I guess I had better speak up. We personally use mostly clay and almost
no portland. However, we use a different methodology when we are using
clay. We use our standard mixer to pulp the paper, but then we dump and
drain the water from the pulp. We then mix the drained pulp with the
clay in a standard cement mixer. Using this process, our dry times are
about the same as using portland. Our fire hazard has been less in our
tests as our clay blocks don't continue to smolder like the cement one
did. I has been many years since I did the tests, so I am not positive
what recipe we used for our cement blocks. Our clay blocks are 1/1
paper/clay by weight.
Bright Blessings,
Kim
