Re: [papercreters] Re: Best way to pour a 6" x 12" x 52" block?

Sorry, missed this in the inbox.

How much would a 55 gal drum of cement weigh? A ton? Half a ton? Maybe several barrels filled 1/4 full would be easier to handle, or a bunch of 5 gallon buckets.

The problem with that is the people at the cement plant don't want to mess with you. They will come over with a front end loader and dump a bucket into a suitable container, but there is no provision for filling smaller individual containers. They aren't going to waste a lot of time with you, there is no profit in it.

unloading too, especially if you had a barrel lift to get them out.
I've seen those at Harbor Freight, like a mini crane that mounts
to your pickup bed.

Hard to tell, but if you mean me, my flatbed does not have sides. I do have slatted sections that plug into holes to form a fence but no way would a poly sheet, or even a tarp, be able to hold the weight of cement with the large openings. I've thought about it more than once over the years and I just don't have anything suitable for bulk cement, either for transport or for storage.

Just line your truck bed & sides with a polythene sheet. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
