This job would be perfect for someone who just retired from a technical career, and has time to spend on all the details, along with the necessary skills. Unfortunately, I don't fall into that category, or any category that includes taking care of details. I know there must be several people on the list that could handle this type of job perfectly, they just have to step up and take it, or one of the other jobs that will soon be needed!
I, along with the other members of the "committee", obviously feel that this is an important task, and worth whatever time and energy will be expended. It's a noble cause, to have a standard recipe accepted by the IBC so that anyone anywhere can make their own shelter and help reduce the waste stream at the same time. We're all doing what we can to help it along, but we need someone(s) with special skills to take over some of the tasks.

__._,_.___We are still asking for people to step up and volunteer. Do you have what it takes? Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to wait for some monster corporation to see big profits and push for a papercrete building code that squeezes out the do-it- yourselfer? Wouldn't you rather see a papercrete building code that embraces people that want to make something for themselves AND still allow honest and honorable businesses to provide a valuable service to those that don't want to do it themselves? That is what our effort to draft a papercrete building code is all about. We want develop intelligent codes that help individuals create SAFE and durable structures while encouraging fair and responsible commercial use of the material. Even if you don't feel qualified to act as Project Manager, please don't hesitate to volunteer to help in other ways. We need more people involved. --- In papercreters@yahoogroups.com, Jay Hawk <slurryguy@...> wrote:Here is a great opportunity to have an impact. Project Manager This volunteer will be responsible for keeping track of all thetasks that we need to complete in order to get papercrete adopted into the International Building Code. They will document and track these tasks and keep track of which ones must be completed before others can be started. As we establish schedules to complete tasks, this volunteer will help us stay on top of those schedules. They will work closely with other Code Team members to find volunteers to complete each task and track their progress. The Project Manager will be responsible for keeping the master copy of our Gantt Chart which will show our detailed progress on various tasks. This chart will be constantly improved and updated by the Project Manager and published on our Papercreters Building Codes site. We will be using a free Open Source software, Gantt Project, to track all of this information. It is very similar in many ways to Microsoft Project. Experience in using project management softwarewill be helpful but not absolutely necessary. This is anexcellent opportunity to learn how this software works in an environment where several people are willing to help you learn. We will help train you as necessary. A detailed oriented person would be best. This will be a key member of our Papercrete Building Code Team. Be prepared to invest an average of about 4 hours/week for a year or more. It will be important for this volunteer to be able to attend most of our weekly Saturday chats. Please reply to this message to volunteer. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
