Getting in the code chat is relatively easy. Whatever IM you are using has to be compatible with yahoo messenger. Jahnoahsh uses the micro$oft one, I think most everyone else uses the yahoo messenger, a free download. Let Slurry Guy know your IM user name and be available at 4:00PM EDT on Saturday so he can invite you to join the chat.
For previous answers, a little time spent reading the archives should be worthwhile. You'll find lots of friendly and helpful folks on this list, so don't be shy about asking.
