Hi Terry,
Thanks for the input. The mesh idea is a good one, I could
make a kind of mould that exactly fits the roofspace and put the
papercrete on that.
I have fantasised for way to long about keeping chickens!
Unfortunately, though my garden is large I live in a town, and worry
about rats and urban foxes and nosey troublesome neighbours etc..
But you can go on worrying about things and never get off your bum
and do something can't you, and anyway, overcoming problems is good
for me haha. Well done you for aready doing it. I can taste those
free range eggs already.
Yep I have just started looking at cob too, and I love it
that it comes from Wales originally, which is where I currently
live. I believe cob buildings only started out as temporary
dwellings but some have lasted 500 years or so.
Would love to see your photos also.
Love, Mary

already posted, I get the digest so I don't see new posts from the
day until late at night, but I would think if a large sheet of
papercrete is made around a 3 - 4 inch thickness it might be a
little flexible, but I think it will crack or break if you tried to
flex it too much. With various recipes including the paint you
mentioned, experiment and see what you get.

wet papercrete over a domed wire mesh frame, the water will drain
out leaving a solid roof. You could even use bamboo or branches
instead of wire. I may experiment a bit with this on the roof of my
chicken's house, or I may just use thick blocks for insulation.
Here in the Southwest desert it gets extremely hot in the summer and
I want the roof to be a thick as possible.
