I have given a lot of thought to the role of cement in PC.., and as used
I wonder how optimal it really is as a binder, and what else might be
used as an alternative. Obviously "padobe" uses mud or clay......
Perhaps type S lime might be a good alternative.
available locally for the hauling at an acetylene plant where calcium
carbide is hydrated to produce acetylene gas and calcium hydrate...
essentially slaked lime. Lime develops it's strength over time.
Additionally there are natural adhesives found in most plants. The
proper green plant material.... perhaps even lawn clippings...
could provide a good sticky binder when dry. Rabbit brush as an
example.... often confused with sage....... a similar plant (at a
distance) which explodes into a profusion of yellow bloom briefly.....
is a pest in the southwest, and is a known source of latex.... which is
a good binder. Milkweed, leafy spurge, and various other plants have a
sticky (as it dries) milky juice. Just a few thoughts....
expand horizons a bit.... What natural materials dry into "glue"?
