[papercreters] Re: Papercreters Expands to Blogspot

Thanks for the offer, Daniel.

Your exact proposal is premature, but we may find other ways we can
work together.

I'm not a big fan of Yahoo, but for the moment the best place for us
to be is right here. A lot of options were researched 6 months ago
before this group was created and Yahoo was the best choice at that
time. The reasons it was chosen still apply. Eventually we may want
to shift to another host, but the time isn't right yet. There are
some functions in the Yahoo system that are being exploited to
recruit members. For the next few months it makes sense to continue
on this path. Once the current push is complete, and we're done
exploiting Yahoo, other options can be considered.

Even if some kind of shift is made, keeping this Yahoo site running
will still make sense. The multiple mirror sites have proven
extremely effective in recruiting members. It's also nice to know
that even if one site were to go kaput and lose everything, that the
mirror sites will have a lot of our archives already backed up. The
rest has been off loaded so we shouldn't ever lose anything. There
are also some abandoned papercrete groups that I'd like to create an
easy global papercrete search with. All this technical gibberish
means that we're constantly trying to make things better.

Above all, let's remember that what makes this group great are the
PEOPLE that join and share their knowledge and experience. We could
have the ultimate fancy schmancy system, but without the people it
would be an empty shell of pointless software. Any shift to a new
system, no matter how great the new system is, will cause us to lose
some members. The benefits of a new system need to exceed what
losses we will incur to justify the change.

Some day it may make sense to shift to another host, but if and when
it happens it will be done for very compelling reasons to
DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE the capabilities and resources available to our
members.

I like your enthusiasm Daniel. Keep thinking outside the box.
