Re: [papercreters] Re: Darjit and furniture question

Hello everyone,
My name is Jennifer aka Darjitqueen. I'm Brent's business partner, good friend and artist. I manufacture Darjit for Brent Sumner (the Creator of Darjit!), under his approved recipe and quality control. Right now I don't have a distributor in MN. If anyone is interested in darjit, in MN., you can contact me and I can sell it to you at the student price. www.darjit.net or you can email me at darjitqueen@yahoo.com. I have worked with Darjit for years. My home will be featured as a Darjit showcase home. I would be happy to answer any question anyone might have on Darjit. Darjit is trade marked. We list the basic ingredients on the website, but there is more to Darjit. There are recipes on the website for the ingredients to add to Darjit. One 28# bag will make approx. 3-4 five gallon buckets full of product after you have added the appropriate proportions that is right for your project. If anyone has a question on a mixture that will work for their area they can e-mail anytime and I will do my best to get back to you a.s.a.p..
Wholesale orders have a 20 bag min., contact me for pricing.
Thank you,
Jennifer

Darjit is a compound that is produced and sold under that name.
Providing a recipe for it (even if someone had it) would be unethical
at best and possibly illegal. Not suggesting you were asking someone
to do that, just clarifying.

That said, they are pretty open with what they use in it and you
could certainly experiment with those materials (china clay, rock
powder and paper fiber) mixed in various proportions to cement to
product something that meets your needs.

As another option, you can make your base object (armature, rough
sculpt, pre-form, etc) out of papercrete and use Darjit! or a very
rich PC mix or a concrete / stucco mix as your final sculpted
exterior (perhaps 1/2 to 1 inch thick). Then you cut down
significantly on the weight and don't increase cost too much. Given
you are sculpting, I would lean toward a PC armature with Darjit! as
a final coat. They seem to get very nice results out of it and I have
not read a bad review of it. My only hesitation is the cost when
compared to PC or concrete.
