Re: [papercreters] Mixer Advice

I have had good experiences with the 4' galvanized tanks. They hold up well for hundreds of mixes and are easy to modify. The 4' galvanized tanks are what I see most papercreters using in southern NM.

Okay, I have a question.  I'm at the point where I need to choose a tank.  I have choices.

Just so you have a starting point, here's what I'm doing.

I am pumping papercrete into pourous forms.  I am starting with a chicken house (6'x8' w/ 6" walls on a skid base) to test my process, then I'm building a pumphouse (8'x10' w/ 10" walls on a rubble trench foundation), then I'm starting on the house (1690 sq ft, 12" walls on a rubble trench foundation - county willing).

I AM NOT MAKING BLOCKS.  Just want to be clear here.  I am pumping and using forms.  So . . .

Galvanized or poly?  I can get either.  If you have an opinion, I'd LOVE to hear it.  Plusses and minuses ?  Do the slant sides on the poly have a negative effect on the mixing?  Does the poly hold up better?

4' or 6'?  Size wise I can go either way.  I have a trailer that will handily take a 4' tank AND I have the bits to make a trailer that will take a 6' tank.  We're driving the mixer with a pto, so I don't need to move the mixer to mix, but the mixer WILL be on wheels so I can move it where ever we need it to be.   If I go bigger I can make big or small batches.  If I go with the smaller tank I have fewer choices BUT I don't have as much to bucket into forms if the pump fails.

Thoughts?  Ideas?  Opinions?

Thanks bunches.
