Boric acid is used in cellulose insulation for fireproofing, and I think it also works for insects. I have no idea how much boric acid you would use. The recipe I gave to Mother was for a tow mixer, about five pounds of borax. I really gave up weighing things a long time ago and use a plastic tub that holds the approximate amount. Papercrete is very forgiving of variations in the mix. The source of borax for me is a commercial laundry supply, Three Elephants comes in 30# bags.

Spaceman......How much borax do you put in a mixer load? My mixer has a 160 gallon tank. I have boric acid as a friend of mine who built a straw bale house said they spray that on the bales to make them fire retardant. Do you think that would work also? I consider you an expert on PC so any insight would be greatly appreciated. --- On Sun, 5/26/13, spaceman <Spaceman@starship-enterprises.net> wrote: From: spaceman <Spaceman@starship-enterprises.net> Subject: Re: [papercreters] Re: Borax To: papercreters@yahoogroups.com Date: Sunday, May 26, 2013, 1:25 PM A bug would have to be retarded to eat pc! papercrete is really sweet but it's not good to eat!
