Disadvantage: extra work
I leave the top of a pour unfinished, nice and rough. Subsequent layers attach well to this roughness. A keyway is not necessary since the pc tends to melt together. YMMV

Is there any disadvantage to creating a key-way at the top of your slip forms to lock in the next pour? A key-way is a sort of trough commonly used in concrete to lock walls to footings. It is created by pressing a 2x2 into the top of the wet concrete. Just in case anyone isn't familiar with the term. Thanks, Dave ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
