[papercreters] SLEEPING ON COB STOVE-posting 'ads' [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from Charmaine Taylor included below]

They use this concept to put exhaust pipes inside a cob bench along the side of a wall that is used for sleeping on or sitting on. The heat from the rocket stove radiates inside the cob bench and warms that before it goes outside. It's very ingenious if you ask me.

Hi- yep-- that method has been used for  5,000 years by the  Chinese, and still is in remote areas,Now introduced back to  modern times by cob building in the last 15 years.   Chinese  make a  big low platform of clay over the stove in the house, and everyone sleeps on it at night, using the residual heat. The Anglos in  Europe and UK only made a closed in nook bed in one wall, and froze just  4 feet from the inefficient  hearth on the  other wall. combining them was very smart.

and the Koreans have a cool dining & space heater  called a "K'ang" to keep warm  while eating- see ATTACHED

the stove is in the floor,  Seating is all around in a square on the floor, with the legs  in the underfloor area. a   table in the center has the open spot  for  cooking  ( Benihana style- stolen from the Korean idea)  and people sit on the  floor with their legs   in the well and stay warm.  a blanket over the table pulls up to your lap or under the arms, and you sit there and  talk, eat,  knit, read, etc to use the warmth of the stove heat.  very clever.   in modern times  use your wireless laptop, or talk on your cell,  while you are cozied up... so imagine  the incongruity! -- we all sit so long at the computer, so sitting at a nice warm  K'ang table is the same thing.

Guru Ianto's cob stove and bench in his little cob hut  has been made famous by people who sit on the warm bench all evening, and hate to go home after an night of  comfort and warmth!  and many have slept on the bench too.

Judith - as for advertising-  Both OA people were correct- to complain, and defend you.  I think the OA guy was right-- he sees no link in the email-- neither did I when I looked,   and only a full paragraph with 3 hotlinks promoting your site... he didnt know you.   do you  need to have such a big  promo?  one link is  enough  maybe?
When I had my Alt. building bookstore I kept it to only one line in my signature.. PERIOD, people HATE to  be   sold to when they are in these lists, so  you set yourself up  as a target, and  you are selling the DVD, no matter how helpful and contributing you are.  Ive gotten grief even for that one line in a signature.  and the truth is YOU and I both have the right to contribute no matter what our 'business' is.. but we have to be especially careful not to overdo it, it comes off bad no matter your intention.

My big complaint is all the   repeated emails in every reply-- I am scrolling for pages to get to a one line reply-- a waste of space in the archives- and it is permanent,  sometimes you cant even FIND the reply in all the  duplicate copies.cant we all do a better job of clipping? please? Please?
