Opps, that was from me, Ev, and I forgot about the columns!
Thank you Spaceman. Yes I did look thru their pics and that is one reason I "thought" it wasnt load bearing. I was looking at their addition and saw a commercial cement mixer and they said this was the only time they got help. This was when they put in the columns..... I assumed it was regular concrete they were pouring as the pic did not say...... was it pc?
And fpcharnock, you say that the earthbags done column style would be unstable and the weight if it fails would kill someone...... I agree and the same goes for rammed earth, this is part of what scares me about going with either of those materials and part of why I would ideally like to make it 100% pc with a mixture of native sand, cement, paper and maybe other additives.
I got a couple tires yesterday that I think will fit the rear axle that I recently got for free. Either today or tomorrow I will be able to check as the axle it at someone elses house right now until we put tires on it to move.
For me, this is one step at a time and I am learning. I studied pc many many years ago and there is alot more to learn now because more people have been experimenting and documenting it. Personally I appreciate a lot of different ideas from newbies and oldies, as well as to see what has already been done.
Im curious about someone actually making a beam with pc. What was the recipe? I came across something in the archives that briefly mentioned someone doing this with straw but was overwhelmed with the search returns I got on it and not able to find out who did it, nor the pics (if any), nor the recipe, nor tests that were done with it....
