I think you may have read about the garbage disposal in the Solberg's book. I will have to re-read it, but I think he said it was just an idea that no one had tried.

I remember reading somewhere about the use of a garbage disposal to mulch paper, but don't have the source. How would you feed the paper/cardboard through the small throat of a garbage disposal? Don't disposals have to be kept wet to avoid overheating?
Certainly worth a try, it would be interesting to hear results of your experiment.

Someone is giving me a garbage disposal already attached to a large cast iron sink so I thought I would try that but may not bother hauling it out to my place of it won't work.
