Spaceman!!! Thanks so much for putting up the youtube clip of the new design blades at work. I see you designed a 3 spin/4 fixed vs Mike's 2/3 design, but as it works, it might even be better? And we all learned that all long blades was not the right direction to go. maybe someday there will be a side by side comparison of your 3/4 vs 2/3 just for grins.
Thanks to Spaceman's determination to create this mixer from a fuzzy pic and no real info made me get McCain's Scissor original design/assembly pictorial up on papercrete.com available for sale. Since it was McCains's genuis, sale of the assembly pictorial supports his work.
I am now working on producing the design plans of an EPS/stryofoam shredder created from junk pulleys and nails, & stuff around the shop, by Nori L.. (elfnori). she was active in the OA and ferrocement lists over the last decade
She did a great job of using a very old, motor from a 1940's cement mixer...mostly any old motor can work, & over 1 hp is overkill. We are thinking junkyard salvaged motors from old treadmills, lawnmowers. washers, etc could possibly be used as well instead of spending $200+ for new motors. or even cheap Chinese ones for $130.
This is a" use whatcha got" project too..many design options could work. I will have it available in a couple weeks for those interested. Using styrofoam chunks with cement creates another version of "paper" crete...called Paracrete by an inventor in MI.
but the trick is getting access to fine ground styrofoam to use.
Her machine makes taking all scrap chunks a perfect solution for thole unable to get huge bags of leftover eps from a factory as the MI inventor does.
There are dozens of commercial shredder grinders, but like a tow mixer solution this machine does a perfect job for low cost.
As far as the invention of EPS-crete it offers an alternative to using paper for those who may not have access and for another good reason.
This formula has the advantage of won't continue to smoulder when burned with a torch, as papercrete will, but it stops when heat is removed, no continuing dissolution of the block.
So it's a matter of materials choice or combining an Epscrete wall with papercrete plaster...they work together.( We also tested my lime+paper plaster on her Epscrete wall, and it worked great for interior use, and gives another layer of burn resistance, plus no mold, for the home builder.)
-- having cross shredded paper, free, in great amounts is ideal over grindindg foam and adding a step..but there are trade offs in eveything eh?
