Greetings,
A decade and a half ago, when I first learned about papercrete, the
standard recipe was 70% paper, 20% sand and 10% Portland cement. We
made a small muffin size test batch in a blender and let it dry. To
test how useful it was, we ran a wire through it and hung it from the
ceiling. We then inserted a coarse thread wood screw and hung a one
gallon jug of water from the screw. Every time we walked by, we batted
the jug, trying to make the screw pull out. After six months, we took
it down. You could put the screw in and out by hand, but you couldn't
pull the screw out. It really sold me on the quality of papercrete for
building. I would not be worried about attaching shelves to well cured
walls, they should hold.
Bright Blessings,
