[papercreters] Re: MIXERS;

First of all, I can't resist commenting about how awesome that video appears. Don't take this the wrong way, but seeing a trailer sitting up on a treadmill has a hilarious, but awesome look to it. It's impossible to watch that without laughing at least a little. Seriously. Who puts their trailer on an exercize program? I bet you get funny looks from neighbors and visitors that are priceless.

That appears to be working well, at least for the watery mix you are churning. Your mixer would probably break up the paper more quickly if you included baffles in your mixer tank. A couple of 2x4s mounted vertically to the inside walls of the tank should do the trick. The idea is for the baffles to prevent the mix from spinning quite so much so that the blades are cutting through the mix more than stirring it. Not that you want to completely eliminate the stirring action.

The next question I have is, do you have a Kill-A-Watt meter?

That meter can measure the total amount of electricity used by any AC electrical appliance. It's a very useful tool in tracking down all the hidden electrical loads in your house to make sure you are un plugging all those items that draw power even when they are turned off and not in use. You'd be amazed how much electricity some things draw when powered off.

I would love to find out how many KWH of electric power is required to mix a batch of papercrete. If you already own a Kill-A-Watt, please plug your treadmill into it the next time you fire up your treadmill mixer.
