Re: [papercreters] Sculptural mix for pumpkins

For something that kids can play with I would use just the paper pulp without any additives. Once it is drained it works like clay and will hold just about any shape you give it. After it dries it is amazingly strong for "just paper".

Hi all was wondering if anyone had a really good easy to work with mix for sculpture work. My daughters want to make their pumpkins this year for falloween. We chopped up 20 gallons of pulp and put it in buckets and froze it till we can get to it next weekend. Any suggestions? The girls are 10 and 13 so they can get their hands dirty on this one. If you are reading this, it is. I'm not doing pc today, I'm making a hot wire cutter for some styrofoam that will become a 11' dome. It's experimental, and I'm planning on spraying pc on the inner surface for fireproofing. The outside will get a thin layer of acrylic based concrete finish to keep the uv away. When I get to the "on topic" stage of spraying pc I'll post some pictures. spaceman Back to top Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post Messages in this topic (2) 1b. Will copy paper work? Posted by: "n2art25" n2art25@yahoo.com n2art25 Fri Sep 18, 2009 4:42 pm (PDT) I teach art and have access to lots of paper that will be thrown away at school. Will copy paper, drawing paper, work to make papercrete. I have people saving their newspapers for me, love finding a use for all this paper that would go to landfill. I live in Oklahoma and wonder if Ramseal would work sprayed on blocks to waterproof? Have not tried any projects here in Oklahoma but have some property in New Mexico where I have been building with Adobe and lumber. I'm not familiar with Ramseal, and their website was not very informative, so no opinion on that. Where in NM? I can see NM from my front door, though I'm in TX. spaceman n2art25 wrote: I teach art and have access to lots of paper that will be thrown away at school.
