[papercreters] line soaking & hybrid tufa

Hi all-

Yes hydrated lime in 50 lb sack should be soaked in a clean tub of
water. it can sit for as little as 1 day, but the longer the better,
makes it more creamy for use in plaster. for PC use you can almost
just use it dry, but for best blending & mixing results just soak it
for a day or week, , then lift from the tub with a colander and let
the excess water drain back. ( the lime water is limewash, ready made
to use too)

you cant hurt lime by adding too much water in a tub, it just takes
what it needs, then rests.

when lime is wet it is now lime putty-- add sand- and small fibers
you get plaster, add to clay you get a "siezing" up as the lime
stabilizes the clay, and mix with paper and you have paperadobe.

very simple.

lime will not give 3000 PSI like cement, but cement at just 10% in
papercrete will not either! so you dont use papercrete as a
driveway- right? papercrete is a good insulator, filler, plaster,
mortar.

add lime to paper adobe for makinig blocks, or as a wet plaster, or
for casting blocks.

it will also reduce mold growth during the cure time.

Cement IS mostly lime, mined, and burned with clay & additives
commercially added SO on a SMALL scale you are doing the same
thing-- so when lime and clay meet you get a very strong result AKA
roman cement'

Hybrid tufa

a guy( I wont give his name) went off and called papercrete
"hybrid adobe tufa " as if he "invented it" it is just a word- the
same as papercrete. you can add a lot of stuff to a mix to make
MONSTERCRETE- toss in seaweed, shredded brush, sawdust, wood chips,
you get the picture?

IT IS ALL THE SAME THING-- don't let the names lead you to think there
is some other magic to it.

Prasad askd about Gigacrete-- I looked at the site-- it is prolly EPS
and lime and cement etc... just like the guy who invented Paracrete-
which ALSO will not burn , can be torched, etc.

nothing NEW undert he sun, just new arrangement of materials and words.
Keep playing with new additives, and get different results. Adding
asphalt emulsion to ground cardboard is called Rub-R-Slate.. that was
invented 50 years ago.

see-- nothing new...just creative people rediscovering it.
