[papercreters] Sourcing papers

I know we have had a thread on this for a while now but I thought I would share my experience.

I decided I liked working with newspapers better than cardboard so I made another attempt to get some for the local printing plant. They told me they have a contract with a recycler and could not give me even a little bit. No surprise but I thought I would at least give it a try.

I went to my usual source behind Walgreen's and saw that someone had taken the time to write on each bale "DO NOT STEAL BALES". So I stopped at the dollar store on the way home and took all the boxes from their dumpsters. I decided to go in and ask for some boxes and found that the good ones are saved by the vendors and if they don't return them to the plant they are charged for them. I don't know if the ones I took fell under that category but I decided to keep my mouth shut and keep the boxes I had already taken. From now on I will ask before I take any. So far that is my only source. I'm pretty sure it will not be enough for the new project and don't relish the thought of having to go around and look for more sources.

So that's where I am at this point. I will check with the big landfill in Santa Fe where they do all the recycling to see if they will let me take some paper.

Thanks for all the suggestions in the previous emails about this subject. If anyone has found a good reliable source for a large quantity of paper I hope you will share it with the group.
