[papercreters] Re: sawdust- cow manure floors

I think, from reading into his post & some additional info, he's talking about using it in place of the soil/clay/sand/etc. It has to be "baked" first, which can be done by placing it, spread in an even layer, between two pieces of black plastic in the summer sun for (unsure how long). This does three things. Sterilizes it (gets rid of nasty poo-bugs), bakes & kills any seeds that survived digestion (so you don't have plants growin out of your walls), and dries it out so it's the consistency of hard dirt (can be crumbled). FYI, poo-cakes have been used as fuel for campfires for thousands of years.

I don't know what his ratio is for a good mix, but that's what I've read into his description. Charmaine, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
