[papercreters] Papercrete as plaster??

I'm living in the Philippines.

Except for the poorest people, all construction here is concrete due to climate and pests. This is to say.... either CHB (Concrete Hollow Block) or poured concrete post and beam with CHB infill. The building instructors are VERY conservative and it's very difficult to get anything new approved. Shotcrete, for example, is not approved.

I plan to try PC both poured and as cast blocks for outbuildings, walkways and so forth that are not subject to the inspectors BUT..... I've been wondering about PC as a plaster over CHB.

They currently use a very rich sand/cememt mix 1/2" to 1" thick over the CHB with a pure cement/water final smoothing coat. A bit expensive and much subject to surface cracking.

I've searched the PAPERCREATERS archive but I've not found any comments about using PC as a finish plaster over anything.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried it expecially with regard to resistance to humidity and pests, workability, finish surface quality, etc.

I'm also interested in it's ability to take detail and fine finish as in mouldings, etc.

Any comments will be appreciated.

TIA
