Have you used a washing machine to make papercrete?
Could you put hammer milled or shredded paper in the machine, add
cement, churn for a while then let the spin take the water out and
have a sort of dry pulp?
It would be nice to find a use for them and all switch to the low
water usage front load models. Just a quick thought as I read
Charmaine's message about using a blender.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NEVER PUT CEMENT INTO A WRINGER WASHER. I use no cement in my mixes
DURING the mix.. wringer washers- there is NO serious torque power,
and NO spin cycle, remember, you drain the hot water out, and add
fresh cold water for rinsing, and then you had to use the wringer to
squeeze out the clothes from the wash bin.
I DID hear of a woman who used A real modern washer, and it was a
total mess. just the paper alone messed it up, with no cement. since
you have a short time to work with cement, making the paper mix , THEN
adding cement when it is safely out of the washer is OK. I have done
this too,
the advantage of clay and paper in a washer is that it can sit for
several days, just add extra water, then chug some more to freshen it
up, add any fibers, and then scoop put to use. NO hoses are used.
Just a low tech method, and since I use SAWDUST, I can add water,
clay lime, and just mix when needed, let sit if needed. and pulling
some wet mix from the washer to drain on a window screen placed over
the drum is easy to make a more sculpt able mix.. just keep checking
it for drainage, and perfect consistency to shape into objects.
