Hello from Down Under,
I have been researching PC for a couple of years now and have finally
started making it. I am on the hunt for people who have been using
PC in wetter climates and the success rates in high humidity
climates. From my research I have got a fair idea what theoretically
would be best but ....
I have been using a standard concrete mixer, soaked newsprint with
eith portland and sand or just portland to make blocks. Still have
some lumps (and it takes ages) but enough to get started with. I
think my husband is starting to take pity on me and is looking for
materials to make me a tow mixer :)
I have been making blocks in forms that are 16"wide x 12"high x 8"
thick, by weighing them down with some 8"x2" they stay reasonably
square and shrink to about 10"high.
Really I am looking for suggestions for protecting the outside and
base from water although I would leave the inside natural to let
evapouration happen that way. I will need to get building consents
to build anything to live in in NZ. My first project though is a
fort for my 2 sons in our back yard!!
Cheers
Michelle
