Bob,  The gasoline motor you are thinking of could be in a car or truck.  This can be done in a number of ways.  1.  You could get a set of rollers, mount them on a foundation flush (or nearly flush) with the ground,  put one wheel of the tow mixer on one side, pull up the family flivver on the other side and let 'er rip.  The other wheels of the tow mixer, and the vehicle tires may need to be blocked so they don't jump off.  2.  Attach an axle from a vehicle (after removing both tires, one from the vehicle, the other from the tow mixer).  You may install one or two universal joints to adjust for elevation changes and angle differences between the two axles.  3.  And third, as a variation of #2 you could do the same thing with a PTO off a tractor.  Any of these would eliminate the need for mounting problems you may encounter with a gas engine, and anyway a gas engine would need to be fairly substantial to get the torque needed to thrash the mix (we aren't talking about an industrial 24 hp Tecumseh here)  Good luck.

Thanks for the info Ron, I hadn't thought about the tow mixers being able to revere themselves. I probably will build one this summer, I have all the things I need to get it done.  I also will try to make one that is stationary and runs with a gasoline motor.

Bob
