Has anyone here tried phone books, yellow pages?

Evonne,

I have used phone books with great success. There is one caveat with this type of paper.  Thick books often come with glued backs.  The glue will not pulverize well in a tow mixer.  I learned to put all the glue back books through the band saw first to cut that 1/4" off so it wouldn't wrap around the leading edge of the blade and reduce the cutting ability of the mixer.

National Geographics and some larger catalogs fall into this category, however, the paper in them is excellent.
