[papercreters] Re: is papercrete can be used as a soundproof material?

Speak up. Everyone on the group is sitting in their papercrete
structure and can't hear your question.

hehehe just kidding.

Papercrete is excellent at absorbing sound.

NO MATERAIL IS SOUNDPROOF. Some small amount of sound will always
penetrate almost any physical barrier.

I think that the BEST sound barrier is NOTHING. When I say nothing, I
mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I'm talking about a vaccume. The vacume of
space for example does not support the transmission of sound. Of
course creating your own vaccume enclosed space is incredibly
impractical, and possibly even dangerous to air breathing life forms.
I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy breathing.

All kidding aside. Papercrete can do an excellent job when installed
properly. I do not know of any scientific testing that has been done
to quantify how effective it is.

The previous thread on this topic contains a more detailed discussion
about sound/noise testing.
