There are many reasons NOT to do it that way, assuming it will be permitted, but just do what makes you comfortable.

Aside from the fact that your material may not scale up to a larger structure there are the normal issues that come up. Things take longer, inspections may be required, other trades may be involved, weather may not be cooperative, etc...
