[papercreters] Re: Ron & Doris Papercrete Project

Bob, our little house here was a two bedroom cedar sided mobile home that we moved onto our land ten years ago. We always headed up here from all the hustle and bustle of the Albuquerque life each chance we got. It was quite comfortable for what we were doing then. Then one day we said to each other what are we doing staying in the rat race, so we decided six years ago to move to our land. However we grew tired of such a small space and decided to build this addition. I found a book on Amazon about paper Crete, so then Ronnie read and researched for two and half years about this building method. We tried it and we were hooked.
So the back door that looks like it was a porch is the back door to the out side and had no porch. We brought tires in and filled them with dirt so the foundation would be up to the edge of the existing house.
So that PC wall you see coming out from the door will be a 4 ft wide hall way down into the bedroom. The other side of that same area will be framed in to have a larger laundry/sewing room ( 9 X 11) then on the other side of that will be the master bathroom (10 x 11). that has steps down into the bedroom as well. I don't think I have taken any pictures of that area yet as we are concentrating on getting the surrounding walls up.
So when you go down the steps into the bedroom you would be looking east and that is where we installed the two windows and hanging wire, the north wall is where we installed the larger up high window.
We are going to do a masonry stove on the west wall that will back up to the laundry and bathroom which will help heat those two rooms.
I hope I answered what you wanted to know. I will post a couple more pictures tonight.
Glad you are enjoying the pictures. If you are ever in New Mexico you should look us up.

Doris
