[papercreters] AG lime NOT hydrated

Hi Jeanne- AG lime is just ground limestone, and will not react, and
just be a filler in any putty/plaster.

here is a great brief article by GenLime, "Graymont Dolime (OH) Inc."

http://www.traditional-building.com/brochure/graymt.htm

I am stunned no one can figure out hydrated lime in these stores. try
a FEED Store.. they always have bagged lime for septic tanks and farm
use ( in barns and stalls) the bag will say HYDRATED on it, if it
does not then don't buy it.

you may see

High Calcium, or Dolomitic lime-- this is also hydrated, and will
work. they are just limes with more magnesium content, or less
magnesium. the Dolomites are mountains in Europe where a certain type
of lime comes from, we have similar lime mines here with same content
mag. lime.

You may need to call the main office of a lime producer like Gen
Lime in OH, or Chem Star in NV and see who carries it. I will look
for that phone number and see.

Spaceman is correct that hot lime is explosive, and hard to get, but
he was mistaken on ag lime.

this is why it is confusing to modern folks, no basic knowledge
outside of my book, on using lime !
