This sounds dangerous. The water in the clay will boil and can cause it to explode. This is the reason that potters let their work dry for weeks before subjecting it to heat. It is not uncommon for a slightly damp pot to explode and ruin everything else in a kiln. Clay of a consistency to roll out would have quite a bit of water in it.

Dear Pam, Roll out a small amount of red clay into a component of your Bird house. Try baking it in your microwave oven for about five minutes and then see how durable it is? You need to see what sort of surface will not stick to the clay and will be ok in the oven as otherwise it may stick to the floor of the oven If it feels durable, you make components of the bird house out of clay and join them with cement minimising its use.
