Re: [papercreters] Re: Exploring the possibilities

David,

I was given $10,000 and I had a company price a structureless corrugated tin roof and that is the size I can build on this project. I want to build something with local labor to give the money to them but I do not know if this is possible as of yet or if it was do I have ¨the right stuff¨. I am not sure if adobe or papercrete would withstand the amount of rain we get up here. It rains alot. I really hate shiny tin though. It will be a place to teach, meetings and such. Yes, an open interior if possible. I want to do it as economical as possible and would like to teach the nationals a way to make structures with adobe or papercrete if possible so that we can advance in building shelters in this area. If I have to constantly buy expensive materials I can only do so much. There is no AC, hot water, none of that. Just a roof, walls, windows and a door. Adios, Jason

Hi jason, 40 x 60 is a long way to span anythingn, did you mean for
the building to have an open interior? What is used in that region
for say a salon social, escuela, or conasupo building? Are there
Block wall buildings with the trusses made of rebar sized steel and
the corrugated concrete roof panels? Might you adapt that to
papercrete?
