Re: [papercreters] Re: Minimizing shrink

Sprayed papercrete works great. When they spray cellulose insulation the sprayer mixes either water or an adhesive with the hammer milled paper. You'll get pretty much the same effect - except - you can't build up too fast or you risk the whole thing sliding off and onto the floor. I think sprayed cellulose would be a lot lighter than papercrete that is wet enough to spray. It is painful to spray and build up for several hours and then have it slump.

Mesh on the ceiling would give additional support to the first layer. After that the layers are adhering to each other. What are you spraying onto, OSB? I definitely would not recommend spraying onto drywall, though I have never tried it. I imagine it would make a mess since sheetrock and water don't play well together.

Greg's idea of panels is also good. Make them over sized and then after they are thoroughly cured trim them for a snug fit.

Need to have you give me your opinion :  I have a unfinished garage.  The space between studs, where normally one would use rolls of insulation, could one spray PC between the studs, out even with the stud, or more, for the purpose of insulation.  And of course the ceiling (pitched) a well.  What advise wouold you have on such a project. Would one need wire mesh on ceiling?  etc?????????
