[papercreters] Re: Source for pumice

I've not used it for floors but I have used it in combination with sack
ready mix concrete, I just add pulped paper to my concrete mixture and
mix it in a regular concrete mixer. I don't remember the amount of paper
I added to the mix but it turned out well and saved me having to use
more just plain concrete, I figured I saved about 2 bags of concrete per
every 2'x8' pour, and at $4.00 a bag that can save a lot of money on a
16'x42' patio pour. The patio is covered but it does still get wet when
it blows rain under the cover and I've seen no different effect on the
paper pulped concrete than the regular concrete, only thing I can see
different is the texture of the paper pulp concrete is courser and I
like it better because I'm making the pours look like stones and I like
the rougher texture it provides.

I haven't used papercrete for flooring yet but it seems to me that
someone mentioned having done it so I thought I would try. What I plan
to do is lay down a thick layer of papercrete and then go over it with a
2 to 4 inch thick layer of earthen floor material. I think it will do a
lot to insulate the floor.
