OK, different ball of wax. Get some sacrificial anodes to stop or at least slow down rust and don't scare me like that, I have enough white hair as it is.

Pat just so we're on the same page on this.. the system will be for heating
the house only. It will be totally separate from the other
(drinking/washing) water system and will also be a non-pressurized system.
With that in mind what problems would I watch out for from your experience?

water in this tank without the most through cleaning and sealing. And then I
would have it tested over and over again, hydrocarbons work their way into
the tank material and then just when you do not expect it leach out. Often
with fatal results. Please be careful with this.
