Re: [papercreters] Saturday Chat is now forming

Welcome to the group, Nannette.

The easiest is to use laundry borax, which is pretty much harmless to humans and pets, but bugs hate it.

Regular concrete mixers will work, but not nearly as well. What's needed is a blending action to break up the pulp, and a regular concrete mixer uses more of a folding action so takes much longer and does not do as good a job. At least one person is using a colloidal mixer, but that's pretty much heavy duty equipment, not for the faint of heart.

Thank you for the invite. I have questions about bugs and papercrete. What is the most cost effective and non chemical substance to add to papercrete so that it is not bug attractive? Also, I've seen the customized "blenders" to make the mix. Has anyone used a regular concrete mixer? Thanks ndk
