[papercreters] nature damaged books, latin: papercretus naturis originalis

Referring to the rainy, cold weather again-- I and another bookseller
are going to do a "detritus book" test, one lays books open, or just
tosses them into the bushes, and left out all winter, then lovinging
rescues said book as " nature art" ie garbage art. There are some
websites showing such paper art, and we wanted in on the fun. I have
several old old worthless enyclopedias to use.

So before you use old books in your crete, consider making art of them
first, then if you don't like the results, into the mixer they go!

Take a book or three, ( ones not important to you) and try this . I
htink hardback books do better than paperbacks like bodice rippers
found enmasse at yard sales...but hey, try them too.

Lets have a photo contest next spring?? ...take pics and record the
changes as a book wears/crumbles. Some finished books are so
gorgeous as art with mouse chewed edges, termites, ink running in
patterns, curling and warping of pages... they look lovely. ( If you
don't agree then you can't possibly be a papercreter at heart!)

here are some art pics of nature ravaged books

Rosamond Purcell, photographer, collage artist, and keeper of an
incredible wunderkammer, has a new book out, "Bookworm", celebrating
the decay of old books and their beauty as raw material in curious
collages.
