Re: [papercreters] Re: Dual Layer PC Block ?

The triangles are usually either 4" or 6" thick, but another layer is plastered on top of them so the structure ends up much thicker. When I cast them 10" thick then I half size the triangles (making 4 triangles to 1) so that they are light enough to still handle. The large triangles are about 6' on a side, the half size ones or ones for a smaller dome are 3' on a side. You'd definitely want smaller panels if you go 12" thick. If you cast them right next to their final resting place you could use tilt-up methods.

I live in the high desert at 4,000 feet and the annual average temperature is 68 degrees, so I don't really need all that much R value but I believe too much is better than too little. Some areas on my roof ended up 18-20" thick.

Lately I'm more of a fan of slip forming in place, and have been using 4" thick triangles as the inside of the form.

thanx spaceman but wouldn't it be too heavy for one man\woman to handle- a 12" thick, 2'x4' (about 60x100 cm) of PC panel? sounds too heavy for me, on the other hand reducing panel size will increase installation time.. intresting this give and take game of R-value against other factors. how big (thick, side length) were the dome triangles youve casted? ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
