I don't mean to be a spoil sport either, but I really think you need to look a bit more in depth,no pun intended, especially the water situation.
Granted, there is a huge aquafer, but from what I understand is full of flourite. The town of columbus has a huge RO processing plant there to make the water drinkable.
Besides that and the drug trafficing,corrupt town officials, blowing dust, and lack of any source of supplies,and the overall attitude of many of the people there, deems it one of the last places I would want to live.
Then there is the "City of The Sun" crowd, some nice people, but some shiesters and carnies. So as they say"Buyer beware" especially in New Mexico.
Land is cheap for a reason.
